The easiest way into the British Capital from the North East is via Train from York Station, direct trains take apporximately 2 hours. Less direct trains have a few more stops but are still usually under 3 hours in total. For the cheapest deals on your tickets its deffinitely worth booking in advanced and travelling during off-peak times (before 8am and after 6pm). The trains on this route are operated by First Great Western & Virgin Trains, personally in our opinion the Virgin Trains tend to be a little nicer, but also a little more expensive. Originally both Standard and Business classes were given free wifi, however Standard Class only gets a 15 minute trial and is then 4.95 thereafter.
